How To Apply 1

The European Science Parliament is open for everyone. It intends to bring generations and professions together in order to discuss socio-political topics of European importance.

To achieve this high aim, certain rules and guidelines of procedure are necessary. Here, you can find out who will be able to apply for the Conference in Aachen in March 2010 and what applicants have to take care of.

Step 1: Registration

Register on the website and create a profile. You have to accept some terms and conditions, which you may have a previous look at here. Please read them carefully and of course: please stick to them. And please note: discussions are open to everyone, but only persons who are currently living in the EU and surrounding countries will be invited to the conference.

Step 2: Prerequisites

a) Are you a pupil?

You are most probably between 15 and 18 years old and you want to visit the Conference in Aachen with a group of three colleagues, so you need to find a few friends and classmates to also sign up. You will also want to find a teacher who can support you with your ESP-related projects and who can accompany you to Aachen, once you are invited.
Groups of pupils are relevant only in terms of law. You are free to choose your working group on your own and split up – in fact we hope you do so.

b) Are you a teacher?

You are thinking to just accompany your group of pupils? Wrong!
You are most welcome to take part in discussions, choose your working group and be a full member of the European Science Parliament 2009-2010. We know that at times, your schedule will not allow for that, so your online activity will not have any negative influence on the Jury choosing ‘your’ pupils or not.

c) Are you a University Student, a Scientist, a Politician, an NGO-Member, a Citizen?

There are no special prerequisites to take care of.

Step 3: Discussing

The European Science Parliament is a model project about E-Participation, its aim is to create a collective statement on a scientific basis, which is later forwarded to European Institutions. Thus, the ESP makes scientific demands on the discussions.
Please have a look at the Netiquette&Discussion Guideline section.

The Moderation Team can help you solve special questions and problems with language or forum structure, and will also from time to time provide useful information in newsletters and the News section.
