Hello everyone!
Some days ago, while participating in a national seminary about environment (Young Reporters for the Environment) here in Portugal, I heard a sentence that I think is the summary of this forum:
"No one has made a bigger mistake than the one who did nothing because he could do little"
It's true industry and agriculture use a huge percentage of all water, but that can't be an excuse (and I think often it is) for each one of us not to do everything we can to protect water.
If we change our way of life and make pressure, the change will get to the other sectors which use more water. We just can't give excuses to ourselves not to effort.
What do you think?

"No one has made a bigger
"No one has made a bigger mistake than the one who did nothing because he could do little" very nice.
tip 5
Don't use the dishwasher or the washing machine of it is not fully loaded. If you absolutely have to use it, push on the half load or economy button on the machine
Tip 4
Don't let water run while shaving or washing your face or your teeth.
Tip 3
Do not flush the toilet unnecessarily. Get rid of tissues and other waste in the bin rather than the toilet.
Tip 2
Dont throw water down the drain without thinking. There might be another use for it such as watering a plant or garden, or even cleaning.
tip 1
Check that your home is leak-free, because many homes have hidden water leaks. Read your water meter before and after a two-hour period when no water is being used. If the meter does not read exactly the same, there is a leak.
its in our hands
I have read many comments about the fact that the "water problem" has not been advertised enough so people dont know how to help with the matter. The truth is that we can all contribute if we really want to. We dont need to be told what to do and what not to do, we are all people with minds in our heads and we can all use it to think. Simple things dont need to be advertised, we can save water when we water our plants - put plastic bowls in your balcony to gather water from the rain rather than use the hose. We can save water when we use the bathroom, take a shower instead of a bath, turn the tap off when you dont use it and turn it back on when you need it.
do a little other than nothing
Some people tell that the effort of only one person does not make a change. But your slogan is a very good answer to these people. doing a little is much better than doing nothing. The total efforts of each person will turn into a huge effort.
whole site is really about
whole site is really about that! we need to take responsibility and do what nature requires to us, to not exaggerating in our perfection and opportunities, but to realize that there are more living creatures on the planet. We are selfish, and although most perfect creatures, proved the biggest opponents of ourselves.
we can do much, and actually, and that much is a bit as we do.
Couldn't be more true
This statement is by far one of the most important problems in our world. Most people do nothing, only because they believe that they are too small, and to unimportant to make a difference. But they couldn't be more wrong. They say "all great things start with an idea." And we need that idea, that idea for change, and for making a difference might even exist somewhere already, but someone might think it's to unimportant to make public. And that's not the only problem we face. Ignorance is the biggest of our, because ven the people that can, don't do anything.
I agree with karolko...

True
All people who have the possibility should spare as much water as possible. It is because of people like that that the earth is running out of water

You are right, if the media publicizing the problem , more people would be interested in it
I agree with you, Bernardod.
I agree with you, Bernardod. We should be strong and persistent, because every serious attempt cannot be achieved without that.
I think that the media can play very important role.
i want to say a few things
Hi!
I've read your comments and I want to say a few things. First, like some of you mentioned, people aren't aware of ways to save water. This happens for a number of reasons. People have access to all the water they need and think the water they drink is a good quality one (which doesn't always happen). So, they don't even think about a reality they see as a very distant one: water problems. Also, it's kind of an underground theme, as the media don't talk about it as much as global warming, per example.
Secondly, I fully agree with the idea that if one or some start acting that may influence the ones around them and cause a major change. Ultimately, that's how everything starts.
Finally, it's already great that we are here discussing about this, as it calls people's attention for water problems and it may be the start of a very needed change in the way as we treat water. It's also great to see that so many people do understand the importance of individual action!
We need to act
we need to start acting and participate in the effort achieve water salvation. If we sit back we can only deteriorate the situation and increase the rates of pollution.
Everyone can save the world
I've got to agree with you guys, little things add up. It's important for everyone to realize this and do just what they can in order to save themselves and their children. It's not only a question of saving poor countries, it's an issue that'll soon come to Europe, America or Australia as well. So I plead - Save the world of future TODAY.
LITTLE WORK BY MANY PEOPLE
I believe that,if many people do little work, this little work will become big work.If all people cooperate,if all people are interested in issues like the water problem, than many things will be done....
Hey, I also do agree with
Hey, I also do agree with your idea... a very good one :)
As said, every (even) little help counts... so let´s start counting :)
This is true, we all have to
This is true, we all have to start doing little things, if we done it, everyone will star doing it, and we can help the world a little. But we have to convince the world to start doing it, if not, we have nothing to do
I agree too, but the problem
I agree too, but the problem is that almost everyone think that they can't do anything to protect water. For example lets say that today 1000 people don't even move their fingers to do something good for the environment, but tomorrow they can change their minds. We are the ones who can change the future, we are the new generation and we are thinking how to save not only water, but our planet.
Of course, I agree. The
Of course, I agree.
The change should start from the individual, we cannot wait the Governments and the officials to do something without our help.
Lack of intormation
As for me, people have their own opinions about the way of life they should live. Almost of the population of our world agree to the irrational usage of water. Probably it’s because they are not informed enough to do something. We all the time can see different projects about the harm of alcohol, cigarettes and drugs. A lot of people who are working for such projects are trying to show the consequences of the usage of all these stuff, but the point is that not a lot of people know about the consequences of the usage of water. And it is fault of everybody.
It's really true! nobody
It's really true!
nobody wants to do anything because we all think we have to blame someone else will do something instead us.But if everyone did something for the preservation of water no matter what it was still a little will mean a lot if we all do
