In Greek, the world "politis" means "the one who is involved with their city's affairs". ( polis=city). So, I think that this is what we should do: stop taking many things for granted, get more involved. We complain that we have not the opportunity to do so, that others take decisions for us. But if we examine the case better, we may realize that we have been too relaxed, relying on others to get involved with the political life of our land. We want to have a nice home, food, health cae, education, and, above all, to be left in peace, Well, those "others" who will eventually take on all the responsibility for the big decisions may be good, bad, caring, corrupted, or whatever else you can think of! However, we need to get more involved, claim the chance to do some good in this world! We can ask for referendums, access to the place where decisions are made through the internet etc.. And, in any, case, stop always accusing someone else for our problems.
The problems which water systems are now experiencing seriously threaten economic, social and environmental sustainability. Effective water management policies are essential in order to prevent global water crisis.
Certain governmental policies continue to favour extensive water resources use. Water subsidies provided to agricultural sector and industries encourage unlimited use water resources while leaving population to struggle from scarce and polluted water supplies.
The need to involve all the stakeholders including governments, private sector, NGOs, civil society and intergovernmental organizations in water resources management is essential in order to make it effective. UNEP is taking a leading role in promoting dialogue on effective water management strategies and developing water policy guidelines in order to response to existing challenges.
Water-related issues have played a key role in UNEP`s work since its creation. After the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development which took place in Rio de Janeiro in 1992, freshwater resources management issues have started to play an increasingly prominent role in the international arena. Since then UNEP has elaborated various initiatives and activities in this field.
Another huge problem is the corruption in countries. In Latin America, where I live, there's too much corruption. It has deteriorated the public education systems in many of the countries. Venezuela's president Hugo Chaves is an example of why we won't be able to rely on governments to solve our problems. What we need is to convince large corporations of the importance of improving education on this planet, and that life is not all about being rich, making money, and showing off you're rich. The only way we will be able to solve these issues are to make people aware that we have to change our ways. The better educated people are, the better off they will be, and the easier it will be to work together.
Well to tell the truth politics are mostly just bla bla bla.But there are also some that are usefull.Well we should do our best to make them do something about the water at least ...dont u think?
In Italy ,the last law about drinking water is dangenrous for people, J must paid a lot of money to have drinking water , J'm worry for this condition, J don't trust politcs'capacity
Due to politics all the problems linked to water have occured .For that reason i believe that politics are able to improve the situation, but since politic is being manipulated to a great extend by companies that are worldwide expanding and want to serve their own interest, i reckon that our problems won't resolve so easily.
The copenhagen meeting as well as the meeting in kioto in 1994 and the bali meeting in 2007 were all pointless. The G8 are capitalistic countries and capitalistic countries have as a main goal economical growth and not the well being of the planet.Reffering to terms like 'green economy' prove this.Enviromental issues are not "buisiness" and should be reffered to as a new source of income.Only socialistic politics can curve the problem of the environment since they see in Economy relations between people and not just realation between products.
From this point of view capitalistic politics are just bla bla and only socialistic politics have real capacity to act.
We must unite as a world, because the problem arises when we act as one country. This is because the problem is not linked to one country but to all, as the water that is needed is used by every person on the planet. Politics is great but the problem is many, countries don’t have the capacity to work with every other country and many countries will not corporate with one another. Therefore we may end up having a group such as United Nations to look over and control the water supplies of the world. Our country for example, 'England' is a problem because the companies that sell us water are the only companies unlike electricity and gas. This means that the companies can charge what they like as there is no competition. Therefore we need to start in our own country by regulating the use and price of water. Once this has been achieved we can look to consult and help other countries in achieving hopefully something similar to what we would have achieved, for example how much water we can use and set prices but more importantly teaching people ways of conserving water and the reasons for it. So people can understand why we are doing this and not just slapping another tax onto the people.
So in conclusion, no politics is not just blahh blahh blahh because we can act as a country and once sorted we can look towards world problems.

They can act but only if united
The Copenhagen meeting is a great example that shows us that the only way politicers can act is by the world beeing united.
